Software engineer mock interviews
SWE mock interviews for software engineers, free
A software engineering interview loop is a set of rounds, and most of them are technical: coding, then system design once you are past entry level. Practick lets you rehearse both with another engineer, for free, before the loop that counts.

The rounds in a typical SWE loop
- Coding (DSA): one or two problems in 45 to 60 minutes, judged on your approach, your code, your testing and how you communicate
- System design (HLD): an open ended design question, usually from mid level up
- Behavioral: past projects and how you work with people. Practick does not run these rounds; it focuses on the technical ones, where a live partner matters most
What to practise for your level
- New graduates and interns: mostly coding. Get comfortable thinking out loud on medium problems
- Mid level, two to five years: coding plus a system design round. Practise both
- Senior and above: system design carries the most weight, and the bar is trade offs and depth, not boxes and arrows
A four week plan
Interviews run on Tuesday and Sunday evenings, with slots at 9 PM and 10 PM IST. That is enough for a steady plan:
- Week 1: one DSA round as the candidate and one as the interviewer. Notice what you listened for from the other seat
- Week 2: two more DSA rounds. Each is a new question, so the gaps from week 1 show up again or they do not
- Week 3: switch to system design. One round as the candidate, then read the rubric in your feedback
- Week 4: mix the two, back to back, the way a real loop runs
Why interviewing others helps you
Every round you conduct earns you a credit, and it shows you the other side of the table: how quickly a strong candidate clarifies, what silence looks like from outside, and which answers sound confident. It is the fastest way to learn what interviewers listen for.

Frequently asked questions
What does SWE mean?
Software engineer. A SWE mock interview is a practice version of a software engineering interview round, usually coding or system design.
Is it really free?
Yes. You earn interviews by giving them: conducting one earns a credit, being interviewed spends one, and you start with one free credit.
Can I practise for FAANG interviews?
Yes. The questions mirror the coding and system design rounds at Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft and similar companies, and most system design questions list the companies they have been reported at.
Do I have to show my name?
No. You can book anonymously. Your partner then sees your level, experience, languages and target companies, but not your name, photo or profile.
